Service
Kappas like to give back, and we do this through service. Service
includes volunteering time, as well as raising money. Kappa Kappa Gamma
Fraternity supports “Reading is Fundamental”, or RIF, as its national
charity.
As a chapter, Zeta Omega participates in various philanthropic
activities. We participate in Relay for Life, the Cheerios
Mother/Daughter Walk, Trick-or-Eat (with Fraternity and Sorority
Awareness, run by the Feds Food Bank), and hosts coffeehouses, dessert
nights, bingos, etc. to raise money for various charities.
During the Winter 2006 term, we had the following activities:
- Hosted a Coffee House to collect books for Reading
Is Fundamental
- Hosted Decadence, a dessert social to raise money for breast cancer
research
- Donated dresses to InsideTheDream.org
- Volunteered for many off campus organizations
During the Fall 2006 term, we had the following activities:
- Participated in Relay
for Life
- Walked in the Heart and Stroke Foundation Mother/Daughter
Walk
- Participated in Trick-or-Eat, a food drive organized by the UW
Federation of Students
- Made cards for the Meals-on-Wheels program
- Provided care packages for the Anselma House
Members are encouraged to participate in other service activities
outside of Kappa as well, to the best of their abilities (or free time).

The Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation
The Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation was established in 1989 as a non-profit corporation, separate from the Fraternity, exclusively for the administration of funds for charitable and educational purposes. For the 2002-2004 biennium, $936,681 was awarded in scholarships to outstanding members.
Reading Is Fundamental (RIF)
Reading Is Fundamental works to build a literate nation by helping
young people discover the joy of reading. RIF's highest priority is to serve
the nation's under-served children and families through the development and
delivery of literacy programs and campaigns that motivate youth to read
regularly.
Rose McGill Fund
This fund was the inspiration of Beta Psi chapter, University of Toronto, when one of its members, Rose McGill, became ill and found herself in dire financial need. The fund gives confidential aid to Kappas who find themselves in dire financial need unexpectedly. During the 2002-2004 biennium, the Rose McGill Programs provided $760,762 in support.
